STONES

STONES is a simple party performance "game" for three or more players that can be used to encourage creativity and break the ice at parties.  All each person needs is ten counters of some sort (stones, candies, poker chips).

At the start of the game, each player puts one counter (called a "stone") in the center of the table to form a "pot."  The players agree on a time limit, and one player, chosen at random, goes first.

On a turn, if a player has an odd number of stones, he or she places a counter into the pot and then does something to perform--tell a joke, do a dance, sing, or just talk (players may set a time limit on any activity).  After the performance, each other player takes from zero to two stones and holds them in one hand behind his or her back.  All players then reveal the stones in their hands.  The player who just performed gets those stones.  If no stones are revealed, the performer takes the pot, and everyone antes up again.

A player who has an even number of stones gets to "sit out" on his or her turn;  a player with no stones collects a stone from each other player.

The game continues until the time limit has been reached.  The player who has the most stones wins.
